How it works

Every row on this site is a pair: a designer or niche cologne on the left and a clone that smells like it on the right. In the middle is how close the clone gets and how much less it costs.

What's a clone?

A fragrance made by a different house to smell like a famous designer or niche scent, sold under its own name and usually for a lot less. Houses like Lattafa, Armaf and Maison Alhambra are best known for them.

Are clones legal?

In most places a smell itself can't be owned, so other houses are free to make similar scents. What they can't copy is the original's name, logo or packaging, which is why every clone here is sold under its own brand.

What does the match score mean?

Every pair gets a score out of 100 for how close the clone gets to the original.

How do you work out the savings?

Most pairs show two numbers. Per ounce compares what each fluid ounce costs, so a 50 ml bottle and a 100 ml bottle are compared fairly. Total compares the two bottles' prices. Both use the brands' own US list prices, or Amazon's or an official distributor's where a brand doesn't sell direct.

When we can't trust a list price (it's missing, in another currency, for a travel-size bottle, or far from what a big retailer charges), we compare the two bottles at the same retailer instead, usually Jomashop. Those pairs show the bottle saving only, marked per bottle.

Prices change, so treat the numbers as a guide and check the price on Amazon before you buy.

How does the site make money?

Links to Amazon are affiliate links. If you buy through one we may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. It never decides which clones we list or how they score.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Are you affiliated with these brands?

No. Brand and fragrance names belong to their owners and are only used to say what each clone smells like. We're not sponsored or endorsed by any of them.
